The Deadline is Approaching: Are You Ready for AMLA’s New Rules of the Game?

Feb 18, 2026

The landscape for how Swedish companies combat money laundering is currently being redrawn. As of February 2026, the new European authority, AMLA, has opened three critical consultations on draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS). These documents will effectively define the future of your AML compliance work.

Key proposals currently under review include:

  • Tightened Customer Due Diligence (KYC/CDD): More detailed requirements regarding the information to be collected and how customers must be verified and continuously monitored.

  • Sanctions and Penalties: A harmonized framework for assessing violations and calculating significant administrative measures and fines.

  • New Thresholds and Criteria: Clearer rules for when a transaction is considered "occasional/linked" and when enhanced due diligence (EDD) is triggered.

Important Dates to Monitor:

  • March 9, 2026: Consultation on sanctions and administrative measures closes.

  • May 8, 2026: Consultations on CDD and criteria/thresholds for business relationships and transactions close.

Meet the Requirements with Next-Generation Technology

As requirements for real-time monitoring, risk-based KYC/CDD, and data sovereignty intensify, manual processes or locked cloud platforms are no longer sufficient.

At Unizen AI, we are developing an AML/KYC solution designed for this new reality. We combine powerful AI with architectural freedom, offering:

  • High Efficiency: Automated KYC workflows and transaction analysis to reduce manual labor.

  • High Detection Rate: A focus on stopping fraud at the moment of transaction, rather than just managing damage after the fact.

  • High Precision: Minimal false positives and false negatives for a frictionless customer journey.

  • 100% Explainability: Every alert is backed by clear evidence and full traceability.

Full Data Sovereignty and Flexibility

  • On-Prem, Secure European Cloud, or Hybrid: Run the solution in your preferred environment. You maintain control over sensitive customer data in line with future data protection and AML regulations.

  • Platform-Agnostic Architecture: You are not locked into a specific cloud provider; you can adapt the solution to your existing infrastructure.

Handling sensitive KYC data in systems subject to non-European legislation is becoming increasingly difficult to justify as regulations shift toward harmonized, risk-based supervision and clearer accountability.

How are you preparing for the new RTS standards? Do you have systems and processes that can be adapted in time—before the regulations are fully applied?

Let’s discuss how we can future-proof your AML process.
